Volunteering With Band Of Builders
Volunteering with Band of Builders is your chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of tradespeople, construction workers and their families across the UK. Every hour you give helps deliver rapid, high-impact home adaptation and renovation projects, wellbeing support and financial assistance to those facing life-changing circumstances.
Whether you want to contribute on-site, support our campaigns, or help behind the scenes, there’s a volunteering opportunity to match your skills, experience and availability.
Roles & Opportunities
We offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities, allowing you to make an impact in the way that suits you best:
PROJECT VOLUNTEER
Our practical projects rely on the expertise and generosity of skilled tradespeople to transform the lives of those in the construction community. Whatever your trade, your hands-on involvement is the backbone of every project we undertake. By volunteering your time and skill, you’re not just joining a site; you’re delivering life-changing support to a fellow tradesperson in need.
Charity Ambassadors
Be the face of Band of Builders in your local community, spreading awareness, recruiting volunteers and organising campaigns such as the Big Brew or tool shows.
College and Community Outreach
Inspire the next generation of construction workers and connect with local communities to promote our mission.
Event Planning and Fundraising
Help organise events, run campaigns, or coordinate fundraising initiatives.
Creative Support
Assist with marketing, PR, social media, photography, videography, or graphic design.
Wellbeing Advocacy and Support
Encourage mental health conversations, signpost where to get support, take part in wellbeing campaigns, and offer guidance to those in need.
Tool Theft Awareness
Help prevent and respond to incidents of tool theft, providing guidance to protect construction workers’ livelihoods.
Administration
Support the charity with office-based or remote administrative tasks.
No Skills & Experience Needed
No matter your background, there’s a role for you. Whilst some positions require specific skills or experience, such as trade knowledge, marketing expertise, or event management, most opportunities are open to anyone with a willingness to help. What matters most is commitment, reliability and a desire to make a difference.
Even if you don’t have formal qualifications, your life experience, enthusiasm and passion for supporting construction workers can make a meaningful impact.
Time Commitment
Volunteering with Band of Builders is flexible. We ask for as little as a few days a year for Charity Ambassadors, or you can dedicate more time if you’re able. Whether you prefer short-term projects, one-off events, or ongoing support, we can match your availability with our current needs.
What Volunteers Contribute & Gain
Volunteers are the lifeline of Band of Builders. Your efforts help deliver practical projects, wellbeing initiatives and emergency grants to construction workers and their families. In return, you will gain:
- Training and resources to support your volunteering journey.
- Recognition and opportunities to build your skills.
- A chance to connect with like-minded individuals within the construction industry.
- The satisfaction of knowing your contribution changes lives.
Your Volunteering Journey
Our Charity Ambassadors programme is central to the Band of Builders volunteering journey. Ambassadors help raise awareness, recruit volunteers and engage communities in activities such as Big Brew campaigns, tool shows and wellbeing initiatives. They become advocates for the charity, spreading our mission and inspiring others to get involved.
This journey offers training, branded materials and ongoing support so every volunteer can feel confident and proud in their role.
