IMPORTANT DATA PROTECTION UPDATE

Band of Builders has been made aware of a cyber security incident involving Beacon, the third-party Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system used by our charity. It is a platform used by hundreds of other organisations and charities.

We take the security and privacy of everyone in the Band of Builders community extremely seriously and, as soon as we became aware of the incident, we took immediate steps to understand what had happened. We have reported the incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

As a precaution, we are asking the Band of Builders community to be vigilant in respect of any unexpected emails, telephone calls or text messages appearing to relate to Band of Builders.

UPDATE

Beacon has now confirmed its assessment that a copy of the database which holds all Beacon customer data, including attachment files, was made and information from the Band of Builders database may have been included.

We are contacting individuals whose records may contain particularly sensitive information, including medical and/or financial information with precautionary advice based on NCSC guidance.
